Mrs. Emily Eriarie Arhagba, Vice Principal of PTI

Mrs. Emily Eriarie Arhagba has been appointed as Vice Principal of the Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) Effurun, for a term of two years with effect from April 1, 2016.

Mrs. E. E. Arhagba who was until her appointment the Director of Science (DOS) would function as the Director of Science and Vice Principal in-charge of the PTI pending the appointment of a substantive Principal/Chief Executive.

Mrs. Arhagba holds a Master’s degree in Communication & Language Arts and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A) English Language from the famous University of Ibadan and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria respectively.

The new Vice Principal is also a professional member of many bodies which includes: Institute of Charted Mediators & Conciliators, Nigeria Institute of Management (NIM); African Council for Communication Education and a fellow, African Council of Corporate Administrator among others.

Mrs. Arhagba joined the services of the Institute on October 12, 1992, as Lecturer 1, General Studies and she was promoted along the hierarchy.

Over the years, the new Vice Principal has attained set tasks and targets in academic millstones in the PTI vision and mission. She is a member, Academic Board, Member, Management Board; Member, Departmental Committee on Course Review & Development, Member, Director of Science Board of Examiners as well as Head, English unit of DGS-Coordinator of all related matters. Also Chairman, Classroom Allocation and Time Table Committee, Chairman, PTI Housing Allocation Committee and Coordinator, PTI Entrance Examination/Marking Exercise among others.

Before joining the employ of the Institute, the erudite scholar was a Graduate Master 1, Delta State Teaching Service Board, Asaba, from 1990 to 1992, also, Graduate Master 11, Delta State Teaching Board, Benin City from 1989 to 1990. She was equally a part-time lecturer with the College of Education, Ekiadolor, from 1989 to 1990 and University of Benin, from 1982 to 1983 respectively.

She has many publications to her credit which includes: ‘Functional Communication in Organizations, Technical Communication in English and Communication Basics: An Insight into Organizational Communication’, among other publications.

Mrs. Arhagba is also actively involved in other activities outside normal Institute’s work such as: teaching and examining of I.C.E courses/students, Member, Delta state Amateur Athletics Association Board; principal coordinator, Noble Daughters & Sons outreach Inc (NGO), Patroness, PTI Charismatic Students fellowship and equally serving in the Institute’s committees.

The new Vice Principal is happily married with children.

Mrs Angela S. Ewere


Mrs Angela Ewere was appointed the substantive Registrar on January 1, 2014. By this appointment, she is the Secretary to the PTI Governing Council.

Mrs A. S. Ewere joined the services of the Institute on March 2 1981, as an Administrative Officer II, from where she rose to her current position

She holds a Master's of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Benin; and Bachelor degree B.Sc. (Geograghy) from the University of Ibadan.

Mrs Ewere is a member of diverse professional bodies such as Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) and Institute of Personnel Management (IPM)



Dr. Kevin Ikponwosa Idehen, was appointed as Director of Enginnering on January 1, 2014. He holds a Ph.D in Polymer Chemistry; Masters of Science in Industrial Chemistry , and a BSc in Industrial Chemistry from the University of Benin, between 1983 and 1998. As a Director of Engineering, he is saddled with strategic responsibility of providing leadership and direction within the Directorate across all aspect of implementation for Academic and Management Policy

Dr. Idehen is a recipient of several recognitions / awards, which includes:

  • Best Technical Paper, NAICE - 1999, Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), Nigeria Council
  • Nominee for the 2001, UNESCO/KALINGA Science Award
  • Aret Adams Award on behalf of Multinational expertise for best Lecturer/Instructor -2000 and 2002
  • Outstanding Leadership and Service Award by SPE International - 2007
  • Listed in the Marquis Who's Who in the World, since the 21st Edition - 2004
  • Former Junior Lawn Tennis International and Five Consecutive NOGIG Gold Medalist, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, and 2010

Dr. Kevin Ikponmwosa Idehen was born on the 21st of November, 1959 in Umuahia - Abia State. he hails from Oredo Local Governement Area of Edo State - Nigeria

Dr C. K. Oghene

Director of Services

Dr. Clement Kayode Oghene was appointed as Director of Services on January 1, 2014. Until his appointment, he was acting Director of Science

Dr Oghene holds a Doctorate degree PhD, Master's of Business Administration ( MBA), and a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from the Univeristy of Benin

Dr C. K. Oghene is an accomplished Engineer with versatile experience in 16 Civil Engineering Projects. He has written several books, and presented several Conferecences / Workshop papers. Cum academic journals

Dr. Oghene is a member of the following Professional bodies:

  • Nigeria Society of Engineers (MNSE)
  • Registered Engineer, COREN
  • Nigeria Institute of Management (NIM)
  • Nigeria Society of Environmental Society (MNES)
  • Nigeria Institute if Engineering Management ( NNIEM)

  • America Society of Civil Engineers (MASCE), among others


Acting Director, Finance and Accounts

Mr ATSUE ISHUH was appointed as Acting Director of Finance and Accounts in December, 2014. He holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, and BSc. (Hons) in Accounting from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria

As a proven professional, Mr Atsue Ishuh has earned several recognitions and membership as Certified Public Accountant - CPA, Member Institute of Cost and Management Accountants - ACMA, Member, Nigeria Institute of Management(Chattered ) - MNIM

Mr. Ishuh also finds pleasure in writing, and has authored several books.

Mr R. T. Obashe

Chief Librarian

Mr. R. T. Obashe a Deputy Director was appointed Chief Librarian in September 2014.
He holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Library and information Science from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria and the University of Ibadan respectively.
He is a certified Librarian, a member of the special Library Association (SLA) of America and a member of the Nigeria Library Association.

Mrs. P. N. Olaniyi

Acting Chief Internal Auditor

Mrs Nwamaka Peace olaniyi was appointed as Acting Chief Internal Auditor in 2005. She joined the services of the Petroleum Training Institute in 1988.

Mrs P. N. Olaniyi holds an MBA ( Finance) from Irish University Business School, London and Higher National Diploma in Accountancy from Auchi Polytechnic. She is also a member of Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), Institute of Internal Auditors of Nigeria, and Institute of Certified Public Accountant of Nigeria, Member Registered Administrative Managers of Nigeria

As the Chief Internal Auditor, she directs and coordinates the operation of the financial system of the Institute
